GRDA's "big picture" is online
Vinita — Looking for the latest information
on Grand Lake or Lake Hudson conditions?
If so, the
Grand River Dam Authority wants to remind you that its home on the world wide
web — grda.com — is always open, providing information on the lakes area as
well other useful information about the state’s electric utility and resource
agency.
“Our goals
with the website really mirror our goals of our other public outreach
functions,” said GRDA Corporate Communications Director Justin Alberty. “We
want people to see the big picture of GRDA: lakes, electric generation,
ecosystems management and more. The webpage helps us to do that.”
One of the
most popular pages on the website is lake information, said Alberty, adding
that real-time data related to lake elevations, area temperatures, humidity and
wind speed are all available online.
“This can
be important information for those people who are not full time residents of
the lake area,” said Alberty. “They can check in at grda.com on
Friday afternoon before heading to the lake for the weekend.”
However, a
large amount of information about other GRDA functions can also be found on the
website. Information on GRDA’s monthly board of directors meetings (including
agendas and minutes) are posted to the site, as well as bios on GRDA’s board
and staff.
“The site
also contains a synopsis of our generation facilities, transmission functions
and community involvement,” added Alberty,“ and it
goes beyond that. We’d just invite people to look it over the next time they’re
online, and to check back often for updates.”
According
to Alberty, GRDA has had a presence on the world wide web
since the late 1990s and “we welcome suggestions from site visitors. We want
the site to not only be educational and informative but as user-friendly as
possible.”
