Lending a hand for Lady Grand …
Grand Lake Shoreline cleanup set for Saturday, May 10

Vinita – “Lending a hand for Lady Grand” is the goal of volunteers who will take part in the annual Grand Lake Shoreline Cleanup effort on Saturday, May 10.

The event --- made possible by a partnership between the Grand Lake Sail & Power Squadron (GLSPS) and the Grand River Dam Authority, is an opportunity for lake residents to join forces and clear Grand Lake’s beautiful shoreline before the arrival of the summer boating season. The Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce (GLACC) is also helping to organize this year’s effort.

“This event really highlights the concern many residents have for the lake,” said GRDA Community Relations Director Holly Moore. “GRDA is proud to be a part of the effort and is very appreciative of organizations like the GLSPS and the Grand Lake Area Chamber, as well as the volunteers who donate their time to keep the shoreline beautiful.”

Dumpsters will be located at two different sites around the lake. One will be located on North Highway 59, next to Cedar Oaks Mini Storage, in Grove. The other will be located at Grand Lake RV Resort (formerly Baker’s Lake Ranch RV Park) south of Cleora. Dumpsters will be available all day on May 10 (no household garbage or commercial dumping of dock foam is allowed).

On the north end of the lake, the GLSPS is coordinating volunteers who will be meeting at the Hickory Grove Community Center (E250, east of Tom Cat Corner) a 9 AM. On the south end of the lake, the GLACC is coordinating volunteers who will be meeting at The Bistro in Cleora at 9 AM.

Anyone interested in taking part can contact the GRDA Community Relations Department (256 5545, ext. 4444), Dr. Larry Stout with the GLPS, (786 8834) or the GLACC (782 3214) for more information.
