Fishing Reports

To all the GrandFishingReport.com website viewers who have loyally followed the website for many, many years, this message is for you. We created a new Facebook group called GrandFishingReport.com. Anyone can join and participate. The “group feed” will now post to the “fishing report” page. We did this so we could get a lot more participation from Angler’s that fish the lake, and are already active on Facebook.

The fishing guides will also be posting in this “group feed”. At some point we will have two streams running at the same time, both on the same page. One column will be from fishing guides only, one from Angler’s that fish Grand.

In less than a week we’ve added many members to the new Facebook “GrandFishingReport.com group”. There will be a lot more traffic and reports since we incorporated the Facebook group. This will defiantly will be exciting for all of us to see!

So, you are welcome to join our group on Facebook or just keep looking at the GrandFishingReport.com website under reports. I know it’s quite a change, but one that many will enjoy. The angler participation has already been terrific.

Brian Jarrett likes this

Barry ReelThose spots may be great, but if you are in a boat with a sonar unit, I would suggest going to the Lower half of the lake and searching areas with 15-25 ft depths for brush piles, submerged trees, humps, etc. you will probably find the fish or the bait nearby. I like to just slowly troll those depths. Some fish will be suspended in open water.

GRDA confirms presence of Blue-Green Algae in Fly Creek area of Grand Lake ... Langley, OK – The Grand River Dam Authority Ecosystems Management's water lab has confirmed the presence of high levels of blue green algae (BGA) in a small area of Fly Creek (off the Horse Creek Arm of Grand Lake), near Bernice. Tests of the BGA showed microcystin toxin levels greater than 100 micrograms per liter with estimated counts of 577,000 cells per milliliter. BGA with more than 20 micrograms per liter of microcystin and more than 100,000 cells per milliliter is considered toxic. GRDA is advising the public to avoid bodily contact with water in the Fly Creek area. GRDA discovered the BGA in Fly Creek during routine aerial shoreline surveillance on Friday, June 16. Subsequent water samples, taken from the area by the GRDA Ecosystems Management Department, confirmed the presence of BGA. GRDA regularly monitors water quality and checks for the presence of BGA, as well as other water quality issues. GRDA conducts tests on a monthly basis and twice per month from May to August, when recreational activity on lakes and rivers is at its peak. "While most BGA are not toxic, toxins can be produced in some algae blooms," said Justin Alberty, spokesperson for GRDA. "We have communicated these test results to the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department, the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality, and the Oklahoma Water Resources Board. We are closely monitoring the area and will provide updates throughout the weekend as the situation progresses.” It is recommended that individuals avoid swimming or participating in water recreational activities in areas where the water is discolored or where you see foam, scum or mats of algae on the water. BGA may resemble thick pea soup, green paint or bluish, brownish or reddish-green paint. When BGA washes up on shore, it can form a thick mat on the beach. BGA can reproduce rapidly in water bodies with adequate amounts of sunlight and nutrients such as phosphorous and nitrogen. According to the Oklahoma Department of Health, exposure to BGA can cause skin irritation, including rashes, hives or blisters. Inhalation of BGA can also trigger asthma-like conditions or allergic reactions. Finally, inhalation of BGA water can cause stomach cramps, nausea, diarrhea or vomiting. Due to their body size, young children are especially susceptible to the effects of BGA. It is also important to keep pets from drinking water containing BGA water. Municipalities that draw raw water from this area should be taking the necessary steps to ensure the quality of their water by utilizing their water treatment systems, and lake residents who draw water from this area should avoid consumption of and contact with the water until further notice. Simply boiling water that may contain BGA does not remove the toxins from the water. “At this time, we just want the public to take precautions to avoid physical contact with the water in the Fly Creek area of the lake,” said Alberty. “We will continue to post updates as we continue to sample through the weekend. The rest of Grand Lake is wide open for business, so we encourage everyone to continue on with the weekend lake outings.” If you see a BGA bloom, ODEQ recommends that you avoid all contact with the water, keep your pets and livestock away from the water and immediately contact DEQ at 800-522-0206 or GRDA at 918-256-0911. # # #

Had another good evening with another great group. It started off WILD!!! Those big crankbaits were ripping them up!!! The trollers moved in on top of us and busted the schools. The group kept 48 fish and threw back 20 or more back. Thank you guys for coming out and fishing with us!! We are probably going to do another $75 dollar a head trip tomorrow evening. Taking my wife out tomorrow for her first fishing trip on Grand lake. I'd like to put her on some white bass. My problem is I dont have a fish/depth finder on our boat so I am pretty much fishing blind. I was thinking about trolling around till I find some and then stop and cast to em. Anybody know of a starting spot? I had planned on hitting Honeycreek bridge and Bernice bridge. Thanks for any advise. ... See MoreSee Less

What a slaughter fest this evening. We pulled into a spot where we caught em 2105 and the fish were stacked in! We got a few in and then the clouds opened up and it started pouring! We took shelter under the bridge and then we moved down lake. The fishing was sporadic but they were biggins!! We then moved back to the first spot and we had 4 on at a time! We finished up with right at a 100 fish!! We have a few openings for next week if you want in on the action! 918-964-0174 www.rustypritchardoutdoors.com

Brad McleanOk I was wrong there is no limit on white bass now, the limit is 20 on hybrids 5 over 20 inches ok but you will have to learn how to distinguish a white from a hybrid and it's the patches on there tongue, if not real knowledgeable then would probably stay in the 20 range to be safe
