Four dumpster sites located around the lake...

Grand Lake Shoreline Cleanup coming this Saturday, Sept. 20

Along the shores of Grand Lake… Volunteers help enhance the Sailboat Bridge entrance to Grove while taking part in a previous Grand Shoreline Cleanup. That is exactly the kind of help organizers of the 2008 Shoreline Cleanup are hoping for this Saturday, September 20. While the Grand River Dam Authority, along with the Grand Lake Sail and Power Squadron, Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the Monkey Island Association are joining forces to make this event possible, it will be the dedicated efforts of hundreds of lake area volunteers that make the event successful. Grand Divers Supply will also be pitching in; they will focus their cleanup efforts under the waters of Grand Lake in conjunction with the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup, also scheduled for September 20.

To accommodate all the volunteer effort, there will be several dumpster sites designated for shoreline trash all around Grand Lake. Those sites will include the Grand River Dam Authority Lake Patrol Headquarters in Langley; the Grand Lake Public Works Authority on Monkey Island; the lot on North Highway 59, next to Cedar Oaks in Grove; and the Grand Lake RV Resort in Duck Creek. The dumpsters will be available from 9 AM to 2 PM (please no household or commercial trash or brush). As an added incentive, the first 50 volunteers disposing of shoreline trash at each site will receive a free, “eco friendly” reusable water bottle.
