GRDA Schedules 2010 “Rush For Brush” Events

READY FOR THE WATER… some of the artificial habitats constructed by volunteers during a 2009 GRDA Rush For Brush event on Grand Lake. GRDA is gearing up for the 2010 Rush For Brush events.

Langley – The Grand River Dam Authority Ecosystems Management Department is announcing the dates and locations for its 2010 “Rush For Brush” events. This year’s events will take place:

• Saturday, April 10 at Martin’s Landing on Grand Lake.
• Saturday, May 8 at Lake Hudson Inn (just west of Strang Bridge) on Lake Hudson
• Saturday, May 22 at the boat ramp between Pensacola Dam's east spillways (between Disney and Tia Juana)
• All events are scheduled to begin at 8 AM
• Once the habitats are complete, volunteers are free to place them in their favorite fishing spots on Grand and Hudson lakes.

Rush For Brush workshops are a concentrated effort to improve the fish habitat in GRDA lakes. At the workshops, GRDA provides the materials necessary to build “spider block” artificial fish habitats and lake area volunteers provide the manpower. Working together, volunteers and GRDA have built close to 2,000 habitats in previous years.
